There is no right or wrong way in self publishing your work. My first collection was self published with Amazon’s kindle direct publishing resource. It was a tedious and kind alternative at the moment. I am very grateful to always have that resource. I do reference it often. With my second collection of poems, I wanted to stretch myself. So I sought for outsourcing in every aspect—— editing, proofreading, printing, creative assistance, and to elevate my brand as a writer. One of my ace’s posted a Samoan children’s book that sparked my curiosity as to who published their work. She sent me their website saying they do offer services. I went out on a limb and inquired. The rest is history! Jimmi Sivia, a self published author, creative brand strategist, and self publishing strategist! She is a woman, writer, wife and mother. She won’t hype herself up too much, so I do. She has become a friend and sister to me. She had the ability to create clarity as we were walking through my second collection. She was not offended by my choices or my no. She offered me insight and gave me room to grow in whatever I wanted it to be. You could see that she loved this work——— of being a creative.
“My approach is personal, thoughtful, and grounded in you.”
Jimmi is based in Seattle and I was in LA. She would call, Facetime, send texts always letting me in on what she was working on. From the editing, and publishing to the creative design on my website. One of my favorite texts was a video below of the book being printed. My words being printed right there in shop. It was beautiful. This woman has helped me gain confidence in knowing I am a writer. There really isn’t enough gratitude I can show her, except to send her clients…(lol) That’s how much I adore her. She deserves her flowers.
